Harvest Valley is a family farm in Colusa, California. We sell walnuts and walnut oil at myharvestvalley.com and at farmers markets. This page explains what we collect when you visit the site or place an order, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect

When you place an order we collect your name, your email address, your shipping and billing address, your phone number if you give us one, and what you bought. Our payment processors handle payment. We see that a payment succeeded and the last four digits of the card, and we never see or store the full card number.

When you join our email list we collect your email address, and your name if you give it.

When you visit the site, our store platform, our analytics tools, and our session recording tools collect technical information automatically: your IP address, the browser and device you are using, which pages you looked at, how you scrolled and clicked on each page, how you found us, and how long you stayed.

When you write to us we keep the message, so we can answer it and so we remember the conversation if you write again.

What we do with it

We use it to take and fill your order, to answer your questions, to send the emails you asked for, to understand which parts of the site people use, to show our advertising to people likely to be interested, and to meet our tax and legal obligations.

Who else sees it

We share what is necessary with the companies that help us run this site and fill your orders: our online store and checkout platform, our payment processors, the carriers who deliver your order, our email platform, our product review platform, our analytics, session recording, and pop up tools, and our advertising platforms. Each one receives only what it needs to do its part. We also share information when the law requires it, and it would pass to a new owner if we ever sold the business.

Cookies and tracking

The site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, to remember you between visits, to measure how the site performs, and to support our advertising. Your browser can block or delete them, though parts of the site will stop working properly.

Advertising

We use advertising tools from social and search platforms that let us reach people who have visited the site, and people who resemble our existing buyers. Passing information to those platforms for that purpose is a form of sharing, and you can tell us to stop at any time.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and tell us to stop sharing it for advertising. Asking costs you nothing, and we will not treat you any differently for it. Write to info@myharvestvalley.com and we will answer within 45 days. If someone is making the request on your behalf, we will ask for proof that you authorized it.

Every marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and it works immediately. You will still receive the messages that go with an order you placed, such as a receipt or a shipping notice.

Children

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as our tax and accounting obligations require. We keep email subscribers until they unsubscribe, and we periodically remove addresses that have not opened anything in a long while.

Changes

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will say so on the site.
